Is Rejuran effective for improving skin texture and pore size?

Doctor's Answers 2

Thanks for the question. A Rejuran treatment uses injectable polynucleotides to rejuvenate the skin, so it should work to improve the concerns which you have mentioned.

Even as a topical cream, polynucleotides were proven to improve skin elasticity and hydration.

As an injectable, two of their self-funded studies showed objective improvement to the skin in the form of:

1. Improved hydration
2. Reduced wrinkles and sagging
3. Improved pigmentation
4. Improved texture and skin tone
5. Skin repair and normalisation (thickening and improved skin function)

While both Rejuran and PRP can stimulate growth factors in the skin for rejuvenation and improvement, there have been no head to head studies comparing their efficacy against each other. I use PDRN (Rejuran is one brand of PDRN) in my practice currently, because PRP is still currently not approved for facial aesthetic use.

Apart from Rejuran or PRP, laser and skin treatments can improve skin texture and pore size from the first session as well. The choice of equipment and experience behind the operator are important factors behind the success of the treatment. I personally like combining Rejuran with these devices to give the most satisfactory results.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

Rejuran Healer is a powerful anti-ageing treatment. It contains polynucleotide, which directly stimulates skin regeneration and collagen formation (if given correctly). Therefore, it can help improve skin texture and pore size.

Our skin takes time to deteriorate, contributed by age, sun damage, chemical damage etc. It also takes time to improve, no matter how potent or effective a treatment is. In other words, do not expect a miraculous change in your skin texture or pore size over a short period of time even with Rejuran treatment.

Rejuran and PRP are 2 different treatment altogether. It is difficult to compare them. PRP is not allowed in Singapore for cosmetic usage yet.

Bear in mind that Rejuran is not a miracle treatment. Most patients will require a combination of different modalities of treatment to achieve the best results.

Sincerely,

Dr Sii Sik Liong

How effective is fractional Co2 laser vs Infini RF for acne scars?

Good questions! I agree with Dr Chua’s reply on the pros and cons of Fractional CO2 lasers versus Infini RF. In addition, I would like to address your question on the ideal length of time between subcision and Infini RF treatments. The ideal interval between treatments is 4-6 weeks. This is to allow for adequate skin recovery. Hope that this answers your questions!

Is PRP injection available for acne scarring in Singapore?

PRP at the present moment is not available in Singapore. It does help with acne scarring though, and you might have to go to neighbouring countries to do the treatment (including Malaysia). Having said that, you can consider Rejuran/skin boosters/microneedling that can help in a similar fashion. Your 2nd question on which is better — it depends on the severity and type of scars. But usually Fractional laser is the backbone of laser therapy. So consult your doctor early to discuss the available options.
