Is subcision effective for depressed nose scar?

Doctor's Answers 1

The nose is one of the most sensitive parts of your body. In view of the highly sebaceous nature of the nose, for depressed nose scar, in my experience, only fractional CO2 laser may give modest results after several treatments.

Much has been written about fractional CO2 lasering in the Acne Scar Treatment section which you can refer to for more details about how it is done. Apart from that, it also includes:

  • the usual treatment protocols,
  • post-laser care and
  • management.

Other usual acne scar treatment modalities such as subcision lend themselves poorly on the nose. Therefore, it is best that patients avoid subcision.

What is the best acne treatment for recurrent breakouts at temple, jawline and chin?

I noticed that I tend to breakouts after holidays. Yes, weather and humidity changes can sometimes trigger breakouts. Stress/poor quality of sleep due to jet lag and time differences can also contribute. Speaking from personal experience here; I tend to break out much worse in Singapore than I did living in the UK. Went to national skin centre for consultation, and was given some watery creams and Cetaphil products to use. Hard to comment on what you were given, but from what you’ve described here, NSC doesn’t seem to have given you anything specifically for acne treatment.

Will dermal fillers help to permanently get rid of dents on my face?

This will largely depend on the type of dermal fillers used. Some dermal fillers are temporary and others are more permanent. The cause of your dents will also be an important factor in deciding the best treatment plan which may include lasers, fillers or subcision or a combination of therapies. After an initial consultation and assessment, the cause and severity of your problem can be assessed. A visual assessment leads to the most optimal treatment plan for our patients.
