Is it normal for moles to remain even after 4 laser removal sessions? (Photo)

Doctor's Answers 1

Hi if you have a mole that is raised, it often means the mole originates from the deeper layer of skin. If your mole is still present after multiple laser sessions, it is likely because the laser is only treating the top part of the mole and the mole will persist or even increase in size over time.

A surgical removal of such moles will usually be more effective. Although there will be an initial scar, this will usually fade to a fine line after 6-8 months and leave an excellent cosmetic result for most patients.

I think the charges for mole removal in Singapore at private clinics or NSC are pretty comparable. The cost at NSC depends primarily on factors like: Size and location of mole Method of removal (excision vs lasers) The cost for excision removal at NSC starts from $300 – $400 and up, and only requires 1 session. The cost for laser removal at NSC starts from $300 and up, and typically requires a few sessions. Not all moles can be lasered off. What are the risks of laser treatment around the genital area?

I totally understand your concerns. The genital area is a sensitive area that is prone to scarring. Every medical procedure has its benefits and risks. Laser removal of Fordyce spots is no exception. Apart from scarring, there are risks such as hyper-pigmentation (brown spots) or hypo-pigmentation (white spots). That being said, lasers are safe and effective in the Right Hands. Pulsed dye lasers and 1064nm Nd:YAG lasers are proven to be safe and effective laser treatments for Fordyce spots.
