What are the next steps if I take 2 mercilon pills late?

Doctor's Answers 1

If you are late in taking your mercilon oral contraceptive pills, there is always the chance of you getting pregnant, especially if you had recent sexual intercourse. Forgetting to take oral contraceptive pills on time is one of the most common reasons for pill failure. In order to prevent unwanted pregnancies, it is best to see your gynaecologist who can then recommend emergency contraception if you have had intercourse within 5 days of not taking your mercilon pills on time. The 2 recommended forms of emergency contraception are :

1. IUCD (intrauterine contraceptive device, which should be effective for 5 years)

2. Ella (1 hormone tablet)

For Ella, as it is high dose hormones, should you vomit this out, you will need to return for another dose or else it will not be as effective as it can be.

Is Colchicine safe for breastfeeding mothers?

I do agree with what Dr Ethan and Dr Jasmine have written about the risk of colchicine in breastfeeding. For treatment of oral lichen planus, there are many other treatment options available apart from colchicine and you should speak to your doctor and raise your concerns about the use of colchicine while you are breast-feeding and explore if alternative options are available for you.

How should I choose a gynae in Singapore if I have just found out that I’m pregnant?

Congratulations! There are literally textbooks written about this, but I shall summarise them into 5 main pointers for you to take note of: 1. Calculate your due date You can use this due date calculator here. Most doctors will see you when you are about 8 weeks pregnant. 2. Take your vitamins You need to start taking your prenatal vitamins every day.
