What are possible complications from temple fillers?

Doctor's Answers 1

Personally, I have done a fair bit of temple filler injections and volume restoration of the temple with fillers. It does give a good result generally. It is also generally safe with minimal side effects. Some of these minimal side effects include redness and bruising. Some patients do feedback that they do get a bit of pain and discomfort. But it usually resolves after 24 hours.

Some dangerous complications may include blindness. However, it is extremely rare and usually, experienced doctors know how to minimize these risks as best as we can.

How many subcision sessions with fillers are necessary to see results compared to undergoing subcision without fillers?

Hi, Subcision releases the underlying scar tissue and stimulates new collagen formation from wound healing. Hence results will be seen even after a single session although results are delayed for several months until the new collagen is formed. Repeat subcisions done judiciously will add to the results seen. Fillers used in conjunction with subcision results in immediate filling-in and lifting from the injected filler substance while the new collagen is being formed from the subcision. Hence immediate results are apparent even after the first session of combination treatment.

How does Ultherapy compare against fillers like Belotero for removing facial lines such as the nasal labial fold and tear trough?

Hi,Ultherapy and fillers serve complementary roles in improving the aging face. Ultherapy lifts and tightens the skin, reduces skin laxity and improves the definition of the lower face contours. Skin texture is also improved from the dual-depth treatment protocol currently being used. Fillers like Belotero plumb up the skin, fills up facial sunkeness including the tear troughs and nasolabial folds. There are distinct and well as overlapping benefits of the 2 therapies.
