The pap smear is one of the commonest methods for screening for cervical cancer. There are some tips I would advise in order for an accurate sample to be taken. I would advise you to
- Not to schedule the pap smear when you are having menses. Do it a week after the menses has ended.
- Not to douche the vagina for two days before the test.
- Avoid unprotected vaginal intercourse at least 2 days before the test.
- Avoid using any vaginal medications before the test (unless indicated by your doctor)
