When is it safe to continue regular facial spa sessions after Pico laser treatment?

Doctor's Answers 1

After a pico-laser treatment session, I would recommend waiting for an interval of 10-14 days before patients actually commence for regular facial spa treatments. This is to allow and also ensure that there is adequate time for the skin healing to occur.

Although there are no to minimal downtime for pico-laser treatment after each session, there might be some side effects. These side effects include redness, swelling, dry skin and sensitivity that might irritate the skin further from the ingredients or substances used in the facial spa treatment.

This will avoid potentially aggravating the laser-treated skin during the initial period of post-laser healing.

Glycolic Acid is one of the first-line treatments for various aesthetic conditions. Glycolic acid (GA) is considered the safest and most versatile chemical peeling agent, as it contains the smallest molecule and efficient at penetrating the epidermis. [1] Glycolic acids are also great skin hydrators and smootheners and give the skin a nice healthy glow. What to avoid after facial laser treatment?

Hi, Generally, after facial laser treatment, the skin may be a little sensitive and prone to developing pigmentation. Hence, after facial laser treatment, avoid harsh soaps and facial creams that may worsen the sensitivity. Such creams include alpha hydroxy acids and tretinoin. These creams may be used judiciously several weeks later after the skin normalizes. A gentle moisturizer used regularly will help the lasered skin recover faster. It is important to avoid UV exposure after facial laser treatment to minimize post-laser hyperpigmentation.
