Should I be worried about muscle twitching at my scalp?Health & Fitness
I had been getting tremors over the right side of my scalp, near my ears over the last few days. It feels like the arteries on the scalp is jerking. It doesn't cause my whole head to have a tremor, only the skin of the scalp. Is it any cause for concern?
Muscle twitching is usually not a cause for concern, and tend to go away by themselves.
Muscle twitches usually involve small areas of your muscle fibres. They have this annoying habit in that when you do feel them, they tend to feel worse and more noticeable than they actually are.
The most common causes of muscle twitching include:
- Lack of certain vitamins and minerals (eg. magnesium deficiency)
- Lack of sleep/fatigue
- Too much caffeine
- Medication side-effects
You didn't mention your age, but one possible cause to rule out in the older crowd is temporal arteritis or other neurological causes, so if the twitching persists, do consider seeing your doctor or GP.
