What treatments are there for phimosis?

Doctor's Answers 1

Phimosis can range from tight foreskin, that cannot be retracted fully to expose the glans penis, to pinpoint phimosis where the foreskin completely covers the glans penis.

For those men who are still able to retract the foreskin, topical steroids can be used to soften the foreskin for a period of 3-4 weeks. I would not advise for a protracted course of steroids as the skin would become discoloured and overly thinned out.

Circumcision would be the treatment of choice for men with phimosis. Make a trip down to see a urologist today.

What should I do about an abnormal PSA result at a health screening?

There can be other causes for raised PSA other than cancer, like prostate inflammation, infection, benign enlargement or perineal region trauma. The first step is to rule out all these reasons that may be causing the elevated PSA. Should there be a need for more advanced measurement of PSA parameters, your physician can further advise. It would be good for you to see a urologist for a full clinical consultation and examination before proceeding further.

What could be the cause of a white discharge from my penis?

It could be prostatic fluid as mentioned by Dr Winston, or possible infection with Candida, chlamydia, gonorrhoea or herpes simplex virus. You will need a full STD workup or urine and blood tests to ascertain the cause.
