Will getting a vasectomy affect my sex drive?

Doctor's Answers 2

Vasectomy involves cutting off a segment of the right and left vas deferens thus disrupting the transport of the sperms from the respective testicle to the prostate gland. This would result in the sperms never reaching the semen that a man ejaculates.

This has no effect on a man’s sex drive. Most men can’t tell any difference in their ejaculate after vasectomy. This is because the testicles only contribute 5% in terms of volume to the seminal fluid.

The vas deferens are the tubes that transfer sperm from the testis to the prostate, where it is mixed with semen before ejaculation.

Sex drive or libido is affected by your testosterone. This hormone is made in the testis before moving into the bloodstream. It is not transported inside the vas deferens. So cutting the vas will not affect the manufacture or transport of testosterone.

In short, a vasectomy will not decrease your sex drive. In fact, knowing that you have reliable contraception may increase your sex drive.

How are boils on the vaginal area normally treated in Singapore?

It really depends on the size of the boil and whether it really is a "boil". Your best bet would be to show it to your usual GP or Gynecologist. If it really is a boil, the size and whether you have a fever is most important. If there is a fever, it requires more treatment, sometimes might have to be admitted. Otherwise, small ones can be treated with creams while larger ones might need minor surgery.

Can I still get the Gardasil 9 vaccine if I am older than 26 years old, and what are the benefits and considerations in getting it past the CDC approved age?

The Gardasil 9 vaccination provides protection against cervical cancer as well as warts. When a medication or injection is approved by the government, it relies on research to support the claims made by the medications. In this case, the claim is that: In the few thousands of patients that the company gave the vaccine to, these girls were between 9 to 26 years old. And according to the research, the injection did reach the outcomes that it claims. And hence, this is called the "label indication".
