What are effective treatment options for keratosis pilaris?

Doctor's Answer

Hi, thank you for the question. Keratosis pilaris is a condition where there are prominent clogged follicles, commonly over the arms and thighs and back.

It is is a fairly common condition and is considered to be physiological for some people and not a disease.

It is difficult to completely get rid of keratosis pilaris. Topical moisutizers containing urea, salicycylic acid, lactic acid or tretinoin cream can be used.

These treatments help to smoothen and unclog the bumps but complete eradication is difficult.
