What are some precautionary measures that I can take to avoid developing milia seeds on my face?

Doctor's Answers 1

Hi,

Some useful tips to reduce milia formation on the face include:

1. Avoid excessive UV exposure

2. Cleanse the skin daily or twice daily using a mild cleanser

3. Avoid use of thick and greasy make-up or rich facial moisturizers

4. Apply a topical retinoid (e.g. tretinoin or adapalene prescription cream ) at night to facilitate skin renewal.

5. Regular superficial chemical peeling to rejuvenate the skin

6. Avoid scratching or injuring the skin.

Hope this helps!

How to remove milia on the eye bag area?

It appears that you have a milium (a single milia). Milia is the medical term for dilated cystic glands which are found just under the skin surface. They are usually 1 to 2 millimetres in size. It is caused by trapped keratin (dead skin cells) that clog up the swear ducts. This condition is rather common in the lower eyelid and can also affect the upper eyelid, nose cheek and chin. Whilst milia may look like whiteheads, they can’t be popped by squeezing. My preferred treatment for milia that’s stubborn would be to use a Smartxide CO2 laser.
