The simple answer to there is a higher risk of getting an infection. Raw food, especially meat products, may harbour bacteria, parasites and other undesirable microbes. Although not all micro-organisms are proven to be harmful to the human body, there is certainly a higher chance of falling sick when one ingests large amounts of raw food.

The infection is expected to involve the digestive tract mostly and the person who has contracted such an infection may present with abdominal pain, fever, vomiting or diarrhoea. In more severe cases, the infection can enter one's bloodstream. If this occurs, it may result in a serious and sometimes life-threatening state known as septicemia which requires intravenous antibiotics and ICU care.

As such, my take on this is to avoid taking raw food as much as possible and preferably not to take any altogether. There is no way to guarantee that you will not contract a nasty infection with raw food or even well cook food. Use your own discretion in choosing your food and let your common sense prevail.
