I can see that you are very concerned regarding your symptoms.

Firstly, allow me to reassure you that bacterial vaginosis is an extremely common condition that affects women of all ages, especially in the reproductive age group.

Bacterial vaginosis, also known as BV, is caused by a common bacteria known as Gardnerella Vaginalis

Common symptoms of Bacterial Vaginosis include:

1. Abnormal vaginal discharge (your discharge may be whitish, yellowish or even greenish in colour)

2. Vaginal itch

3. Fishy odour from the vagina or discharge

Gardnerella Vaginalis is a common bacteria that can be part of your normal vaginal flora. This means that in a normal situation, the bacteria can naturally be found in the vagina.

Changes in vulva hygiene, stress or frequent sweating can cause an overgrowth of the bacteria, which hence leads to the symptoms of BV which you are experiencing.

As you have mentioned, you do sweat frequently which can definitely trigger such an infection.

In general, Bacterial Vaginosis is NOT a sexually transmitted disease. So not to worry even if you have never been sexually active before.

While there may be a possibility of BV clearing off on its own, seeing a doctor and getting your symptoms checked and treated will be much more effective for you.

I have treated many female patients who have been affected by BV, and majority of them have a significant improvement of their symptoms after receiving appropriate treatment and advice.

Do seek a doctor's opinion for your symptoms to alleviate your worries!
