What are the treatments available for white scar left by mole removal? (photo)

Doctor's Answers 3

It appears to be an hypopigmented scar. This can happen after inflammation from skin procedures such as lasers. The problem is particularly more obvious in Asian/darker skin types because of poorer healing and also simply because the white patch stands out.

Some anti-inflammatory creams can help and they are available with a doctor's prescription. Certain laser and light treatments can also improve the outcome of the lesion. Even with treatment, it takes some time for the lesion to fade.

I would recommend a proper consult with a dermatologist or aesthetic physician to discuss your skin type and various treatment options. All the best!

You have a hypo-pigmented scar following mole removal. This can happen occasionally.

These scars will slowly become closer to your skin colour over time.

There are several treatments including creams which can help the scar to be less obvious.

Do speak to an aesthetic doctor/dermatologist for a detailed consult and more comprehensive advice!

Did you remove one or 2 moles? There seems to be 2 scars. One of them seems to be having a regrowth of the mole.

You can either wait or try some of the treatments (Fractional CO2 laser, scar cream) suggested. If all else failed, you may even try to excise the scar. It may convert the round scar to a line which is less obvious. There is of course other risks like any procedure. Sit down with your doctor for a better understanding.

In the meantime, stay positive and stay happy!

Is mole removal at NSC cheaper than at a private clinic in Singapore?

I think the charges for mole removal in Singapore at private clinics or NSC are pretty comparable. The cost at NSC depends primarily on factors like: Size and location of mole Method of removal (excision vs lasers) The cost for excision removal at NSC starts from $300 – $400 and up, and only requires 1 session. The cost for laser removal at NSC starts from $300 and up, and typically requires a few sessions. Not all moles can be lasered off. As NSC rates are standardised, you may be able to find some private clinics that do it for cheaper.

Where is the best place for mole removal in Singapore?

There are many clinics in Singapore that do mole removal. Private clinics are usually a little more pricey than government hospitals such as National Skin Center. However, National Skin Center’s waiting list is usually very long, can be up to 3-6 months. The more important factor to consider is to get your mole assessed properly before getting it removed. Laser removal over many sessions may not be a good way to remove a mole because the risk of mole recurrence can be high, and the mole cannot be assessed in the lab for any signs of skin cancer.
