What can cause brown spots and patches appearing at my ankle and shin? (photo)

Doctor's Answers 1

There are a few possibilities for this appearance such as capillaritis, eczema or a vasculitis.

It will be best for you to visit a trusted dermatologist so that we can ask you some questions and have a closer look at your skin before deciding on the most appropriate management.

Usually simple measures such as topical creams will suffice. Occasionally stronger medicines or a skin biopsy may be needed.

Hope this helps.

What is the difference between beauty spas, medical aesthetic centres, and aesthetic clinics in Singapore?

Let me answer the multiple questions which are outlined above. Firstly, for your pigmentation, I think it will be easier if you consult a doctor to see what sort of pigmentation it is. But judging from the history that it worsened after pregnancy, it may well be melasma which is patchy pigmentation in the face, primarily over the cheek area. There are various treatments available, including topical and machine-based treatments such as lasers. Risks and benefits such as rebound worsening or pigmentary hypopigmentation from over treatment should also be discussed.

How can I treat a long-standing inflamed bump on my forehead?

I’m sorry to hear that you are suffering from this for the last 2 years. From the pictures, it does not seem to by a typical acne cyst. It may not even have been a pimple right from the start. I would suggest quickly seeing a dermatologist for your condition. There are various ways of removing this lesion which has good cosmetic outcomes. If necessary, he/she may also suggest sending the lesion for further testing depending on your consult. Hope this helps!
