What can I do to heal my hand, foot, and mouth disease blisters that have persisted over 20 days?

Doctor's Answers 1

Hi,

It is unusual that the blisters have persisted more than 20 days if you have HFM disease. HFM disease will usually last about 1 week or so and clear on its own with or without active treatment.

I suggest that you see your doctor or a dermatologist for a full assessment to exclude other conditions such as autoimmune disorders which may present in a similar manner.

Hope this helps!

How are small blisters on the palm typically treated? (photo)

Hi, From the photo, possible causes are: 1. Acute hand eczema due to internal sensitivity. Doctors call this condition pompholyx or vesicular hand eczema. 2. Contact dermatitis or acute eczema due to external contactants. 3. Id reaction or vesicular reaction due to a distant fungal infection. 4. Vesicular reaction due to an ongoing viral infection As the potential causes are rather diverse, the appropriate treatment will really depend on the most likely cause. Do see your doctor for a thorough evaluation in order to determine the cause and to exclude something more serious.

How to treat persistent blisters on the hands due to dyshidrotic eczema?

Thanks for the question. Dyshidrotic eczema is a form of eczema that presents as tiny bubbles on the hands and feet. The rash is often itchy and the tiny bubbles can become more confluent to form larger blisters. The rash can also be painful when the blisters burst and there are raw areas of skin. It is important to avoid harsh soap and detergents and irritants as this can further aggravate the rash. Topical steroids and moisturizers are often prescribed to reduce the inflammation and control the eczema. This should be able to control the eczema in most cases.
