Scf from Singapore asked a question

What could be the cause of itching on the top of my feet for a year? (photo)

Hi, I am a 20 years old female with itching on the top of my feet. It's on and off and usually itches at night. I currently do not apply any itching cream as I thought it would go away eventually but it has been a year and is only getting worse. What could this be? (photos below). Will I need to visit a doctor or could I just get some form of cream from a pharmacy? Thank you :)

Hi,

From the photo, it does look like this might be eczema. Some simple steps that you can do to try to improve the condition include:

1. avoid scratching the area. This is very important as scratching worsens the condition.

2 apply moisturizers regularly

3. use gentle soaps and cleansers to minimize further irritation.

If the condition is still persistent, it is advisable for you to see your doctor or dermatologist for a closer assessment to confirm the diagnosis and exclude any other causes of the rash. Topica steroids may be prescribed to help settle the rash.
