What could be the cause of sudden fatigue that goes away with rest?

Doctor's Answers 2

Hi!

It's great that you are paying attention to these minute changes in your body and wondering about the causes as prevention is always better than cure.

From your symptoms, it seems that your body is under stress and present as overexertion. This looks like a sub-health condition. There are many body conditions that can contribute to feeling fatigue, the reason it gets better with rest also shows the body is in need of more ample rest time. If your body was not under physical exertion, then it could be due to rapid changes in the blood circulatory to the brain. The brain will then release signals to the body to combat the sudden decrease in blood supply, in your case, cold sweat and blurred vision. Were there any palpitations?

To rule out chronic illnesses, it is advisable to check your cardiovascular system for any abnormalities before we take preventive measures. Side note; do you have sinusitis or skin conditions from childhood? It may be a collective syndrome due to the weakening of the immune response system.

The main thing we need to work on now is to get more rest and practice certain breathing techniques for better mind-body coordination. A simple action goes a long way, the power of sound rest cannot be underestimated to deliver sufficient nutrients around the body. That being said, lean and clean diet with green leafy vegetables can improve cardiac health as well.

There is a myriad of reasons, we will need to take a more thorough look at your body condition should your symptom persist.

These sensations can be due to various reaosns, such as a low blood glucose (hypoglycemia), low blood pressure (hypotension), anxiety (psychological) and sometimes no reason at all. You may want to rule them out by seeing a western medical practitioner.

Your discomfort may be managed by TCM under 'Dizziness". Typical reasons are Qi and Blood deficiency, Blood stagnation, Obstruction by Phlegm and Dampness, hyperactivity of Liver yang. A physical consultation is necessary as treatment plan is formulated based on which one you belong to. Acupuncture and herbal prescription are common modalities used to manage them.

If you do feel unwell more often than usual, please do not hesitate to seek medical advice.

I hope you feel better soon!

Does trigger point treatment work for a stiff neck?

My answer, to your question in brief is that it’s worth a shot (pun not intended). From your details, you clearly fall into what doctors term “expert patients”. Ie. you’ve done a significant amount of online reading into your problem, and possible solutions. Not to mention, sought the advice of multiple specialists. So please take my online reply for what it is – an extremely limited internet source (without the requisite examination, investigation results, specialist opinions and detailed questioning that a doctor seeing you in person would have).

Could dizziness be linked to a neck strain problem, and how can I get treated for it?

That is an interesting problem that you face! When people complain of dizziness, we need to establish if it is true dizziness (i. e. the room spinning round) or light-headedness (when you feel dizzy such as after standing etc). If it is truly the latter one, there can be several causes to it, but it basically boils down to a problem with your vestibular (balance) mechanism in the ear. Precipitants for this can basically be considered as: 1. Ear factors 2.
