What is my best course of action if I have Generalised Anxiety Disorder, but am afraid of being forcibly warded at IMH?

Generalised anxiety disorder can be effectively treated by general practitioners, psychiatrists and psychologists. Individuals will have free-floating anxiety which persists for at least 6 months.

Treatment is usually done as an outpatient, and most patients do not need inpatient treatment. You will not require inpatient treatment at IMH. Treatment is usually in the form of medications and cognitive behavioural therapy, which can all be done at the clinic. I would interpret your fear of admission as stemming from the underlying anxiety condition that you have. Having a fear does not mean the feared situation will happen.

Do take the first step and seek treatment from a mental health condition to allay your fears, anxieties and worries. Take good care of yourself. There is no need to suffer in silence.
