What is the best acne scar removal method for a scar on my nose? (photo)

Doctor's Answers 2

There are several effective acne scar removal options for the depressed scar on your nose.

In my experiences, a combination of scar removal treatments will give you the best results.

The most suitable treatments for your depressed scar are Fractional CO2 Laser, Subcision + Filler. You might also need TCA cross. At least 2-5 treatment sessions might be necessary to lift the scar.

Do note that the final results of scar removal treatments may take several months to years to materialise - patience is key!

Dr Boey has answered your query excellently! the various options would be best combined for optimal results. However please consider mainly

1) budgetary constraints

2) Social downtime/downtime issues as fractional lasers and TCA would result in those.

But yes patience is really needed when it comes to scar treatment. Your doctor would be able to advise best.

How effective are the various types of chemical peels for acne scars?

Medical-grade Chemical Peels are highly effective treatments for Acne Scars. It is proven that TCA Cross 70% alone can give you good to excellent improvement (> 50% improvement) of atrophic acne scars, especially severe boxcar scars. I routinely perform TCA Cross for ice pick scars and deep box acne scars. TCA Cross, which stands for Trichloroacetic acid, is a medium to deep chemical peel. There is a wide range of concentrations of TCA cross (from 35% to 100%). I usually combine this with subcision, Lasers and Rejuran injections for enhanced results in treating ice-pick scars.

How much improvement can I expect after subcision for my acne scars? (photo)

Acne leave behind mainly ice-pick or box-car scars. The base of each scar is held down by connective scar tissue. My preferred method is to use a combination of laser treatment and Rejuran Injections to improve the overall texture of the skin. The PicoWay has an attachment called the RESOLVE handpiece. When the laser enters the skin, it creates areas of cavitation under the skin called Laser Induced Optical Breakdowns. This helps to disrupt the connective tissue holding the base of the scar down.
