What is the best treatment for a post-trauma facial laceration?

Doctor's Answers 1

Hello! Sorry to hear that you have a scar on your face from an accident. It is not easy to suggest what treatment options would be most suitable for you without seeing your scar. In general, scars should be treated early for optimal improvement. Depending on your scar, different combination treatment options can help. The most common scar after a laceration would be a pink scar that may be raised in areas. Such scars can usually be successfully treated with a combination of VBEAM laser and triamcinolone injections. Usually 5-6 monthly sessions may be required. It is also important to have the right expectation - normal skin cannot be achieved but scar appearance can usually be improved with early treatment and patience. Hope this helps!

Can fixing my bite correct teeth grinding and clenching issues?

From your description, it sounds like you have a posterior crossbite – in which your upper row of teeth/jaw is narrower than the lower row of teeth/jaw, and therefore biting in a reverse relationship with each other. It may occur on one or both sides of the mouth. Sometimes, to bite in a more comfortable position with more contacting teeth, a person may shift the lower jaw to one side. This may lead to teeth grinding habits. However, the causes for clenching and grinding are multifactorial in nature. So, resolving the crossbite may not necessarily eliminate the habit.

When should I be worried about a torn ligament in my shoulder after an accident?

Thank you for your question. There can be many causes for shoulder pain following trauma including an injury to the rotator cuff, a frozen shoulder, AC joint disruption and more. From your symptoms alone, the active movements might suggest an injury to the former (rotator cuff). Significant symptoms are limitation in movement, night pain and impact on your function. In the first instance, I would suggest seeing an MSK/Sports Physician who is able to provide a clinical assessment and ultrasound examination.
