What is the cost of Invisalign and are there any alternatives?

Doctor's Answers 1

It is a lot more expensive, I would say the doctor's fee is probably the same across the board but I would say the difference is the laboratory fee. For Invisalign like I say is probably the longest-standing aligner in the market, it has invested a lot in Research and Development so the material you get is different from any other aligner systems that's why with this system have treated 8 million people so far as compared to maybe Zenyum, which only launched 1- 2 years back so the amount of cases you can treat with Invisalign is very different compared to other aligners system.

If you look at Zenyum or other alignment systems, they only do adjustment for front 6 teeth, because the material does not allow for more movement. if you have done braces before and are looking an aligning your teeth because you have not been wearing your retainers and are looking for a bit of movement then you can, of course, go for another aligner brands, it may work for you but if you are a bit more complex in your treatment case, maybe a lot more crowding, then you will need more is a lot more sophisticated which allows more movement then you will need to go with Invisalign.

Invisalign laboratory fee also depends on how many trays needed, depending on your treatment so if your treatment requires just aligning the bottom front teeth. Invisalign has a simpler solution which will cost cheaper, maybe about $3000 plus for Invisalign as compared to doing a full case because the laboratory fee is different so it depends on the case. Discuss with your orthodontist what is your condition and what you want to treat and we will see what can be done. There are also limitations as well which may be your bone, we have to make sure that your teeth are healthy while aligning your teeth. We will discuss the possible treatment and from there we will guide you along and explain the cost to you and then you make your decision.

Should my Invisalign dentist or a separate dentist extract my wisdom tooth?

First of all, let me share with you that all General Dental Surgeons as well as Specialist Dental Surgeons, regardless of their area of specialty , are legally allowed to perform wisdom tooth removal. However, having said that, not all dental surgeons have equal training and experience in the field, and if your wisdom tooth removal is a complex one, it is not unreasonable for you to consider having the procedure done with either a general dentist who has a special interest and further training in wisdom teeth removal or a specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.
