Although this question is best answered by a renal dietician or nutritionist, there are some dietary guidelines to follow for renal patients.

Dialysis patients should eat more high protein foods and reduce their intake of salt, potassium and phosphorus.

They can also take adequate servings of carbohydrates to maintain their caloric intake.

Reduced consumption of milk, cheese and yoghurt are recommended as they are high in phosphorus. Vegetables which are low in potassium, such as broccoli, carrots, onions and cucumbers, should be preferred.

Avoid potatoes and tomatoes as they are rich in potassium.

Of course, the possibilities of food are endless, so do consult your trusted renal dietician on a detailed list of recommended foods.
