After your makeover, it’s time for recovery and healing. To make sure the results from your mummy makeover last as long as possible, work closely with your surgeon and follow the post-operative instructions to ensure that the healing process is optimised.

1. Plan enough time for recovery. The combination of procedures can produce dramatic improvement to your body and function. However, it is also invasive and rest and rehabilitation is needed.

2. Regular exercise regime. Singapore’s culture of working overtime, plus the demands of parenthood often makes it hard on parents to prioritise time for exercise. Try to exercise regularly for lasting results from the mummy makeover. Jogging, yoga, pilates, and swimming are all fun ways to keep healthy and in good shape, and can be squeezed into one-hour classes before or after work.

3. Healthy balanced diet. The key to a healthy diet is balance; eat your fruits, veggies, whole grains, and lean proteins with some carbohydrates. This helps you keep your wellness and appearance healthy.

4. Maintain a stable weight. Surgery is not a weight loss quick fix. Say no to crash diets or extreme fasts. Focus on a sustainable exercise and diet regime.

5. Stop smoking and reduce alcohol intake. Smoking has many negative health effects and increases complications after surgery, slows recovery, and causes signs of aging. If you smoke, stop two weeks before surgery and during recovery. A smoking cessation programme is worth it for the health of yourself, your family, and your appearance in the long term.

I hope this helps! All the best for your surgery!

The mommy makeover refers to a combination of body contouring procedures that is done to address the physical effects experienced by many women after pregnancy and breastfeeding. These commonly include loss of breast volume or sagging breasts, enlarged nipples and areola, loose sagging abdominal skin, stretched and separated abdominal muscles and stubborn pockets of fat.

The procedures commonly done as part of a mommy makeover include breast augmentation, breast lift (mastopexy), nipple reduction, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) with the repair of the abdominal muscles, and liposuction.

Some important points to consider - firstly, it’s better to wait for a few months after completing breastfeeding, to give enough time for the volume of the breasts to stabilise. Also, if you are contemplating having more children, it’s best to defer these procedures until after the family is completed.

How effective is fractional Co2 laser vs Infini RF for acne scars?

Good questions! I agree with Dr Chua’s reply on the pros and cons of Fractional CO2 lasers versus Infini RF. In addition, I would like to address your question on the ideal length of time between subcision and Infini RF treatments. The ideal interval between treatments is 4-6 weeks. This is to allow for adequate skin recovery. Hope that this answers your questions!

Is PRP injection available for acne scarring in Singapore?

PRP at the present moment is not available in Singapore. It does help with acne scarring though, and you might have to go to neighbouring countries to do the treatment (including Malaysia). Having said that, you can consider Rejuran/skin boosters/microneedling that can help in a similar fashion. Your 2nd question on which is better — it depends on the severity and type of scars. But usually Fractional laser is the backbone of laser therapy. So consult your doctor early to discuss the available options.
