What should I do to treat a burn/scald injury that has left a red patch? (photo)

Hi,

You have post-inflammatory erythema. This is the initial stage of the healing process. In several weeks, the area may likely turn brownish as post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation sets in.

If you can be patient, avoid sun exposure and further injury/irritation to the affected area and the condition will gradually clear on its own.

Hope this helps!

What is the best treatment for an 8 month old burn mark that is still visible? (photo)

Hi It looks like you had quite a severe burn over your left leg that has recovered with a large patch of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. I do not see any scarring over the patch which is a good thing. It looks like the hydroquinone and Arbutin cream has not worked well. I am not sure of the concentration of the products you are using but in my opinion if you are not contemplating laser treatment you can consider the following: Chemical Peeling — there are various types of peeling available to lighten pigmentation.

Does lemon juice lighten pigmentation caused by acne?

Hi, It is definitely not a good idea to apply lemon juice directly to the skin for whatever reasons: either to rejuvenate the skin or to lighten pigmentation. This is because lemon juice is highly acidic at pH below 3. This highly acidic nature frequently causes skin irritation and even chemical burns, resulting in further skin injury and pigmentation. Lemon juice also contains chemicals called furocoumarins which makes the skin more sensitive to UV exposure, leading to increased risk of sunburns and blotchy/streaky UV induced pigmentation. Hope this helps.
