Unprotected anal sex is a very risky form of sexual intercourse. It puts you at higher risks for the different Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs). You are also at a higher risk for HIV infection as compared to vaginal or oral sex.

I would highly discourage you from taking part in unprotected anal sex. Please use a condom if you do want to engage in anal sex.

If you do happen to have had unprotected anal intercourse, i would urge you to do the following tests:

- Syphillis

- Hepatits B antigen and antibody

- Hepatitis C antibody

- Herpes PCR (rectal swab)or IgG

- Chlamydia and gonorrhea PCR rectal swab

- HIV

Please speak to your doctor and provide your detailed sexual history so that your doctor will know what is the best screening for you. Make sure you find a doctor who will be able to run STD screening tests for you as certain tests are only available at selected clinics or institutions.

Do I still need to go for HIV screening if my STD screening test is non-reactive?

Dr Theng has given a wonderful answer. Oral sex is generally considered safe but there is a low risk of transmission if there are some open wounds which may not be obvious.

Could I have an STD if I have a rash and pimples on my penis, one day after having unprotected oral sex?

One day is pretty quick for the symptoms you’ve described to appear – so I’m going to work with the assumption that this is not the first time you’ve gone for unprotected oral sex. You have clearly exposed yourself by having unprotected oral sex, so you need to go to an STD clinic ASAP for a screening check-up. If you had sex with your partner after having unprotected oral sex, she should also be screened. It’s important that you do so – STDs can be passed on to your partner and baby as well, if they are not treated.
