Where is the best place for mole removal in Singapore?
Where is the best place to have my flat mole removed? I saw a GP dermatologist, but he said it will take more than 5 sessions, which has to be repeated once every 2 months. Please recommend not so pricey doctors.
The National Skin Centre would be a good place to have your mole assessed (if it is harmful/harmless), and they will also be able to offer you reasonably-priced mole removal. This will be considered cosmetic if the mole is deemed to be harmless, so you will not be able to receive any subsidy.
They may also consider doing a punch excision biopsy if they are worried about the mole. With laser removal, they will not be able to assess if the mole is dangerous. Also, with laser removal, there is a chance the mole will reappear again several years later.
There are many clinics in Singapore that do mole removal. Private clinics are usually a little more pricey than government hospitals such as National Skin Center. However, National Skin Center’s waiting list is usually very long, can be up to 3-6 months.
The more important factor to consider is to get your mole assessed properly before getting it removed. Laser removal over many sessions may not be a good way to remove a mole because the risk of mole recurrence can be high, and the mole cannot be assessed in the lab for any signs of skin cancer.
