Which specialist should I see if I have positive antinuclear antibodies (ANA)?

Doctor's Answer

The ANA refers to antinuclear antibody. This is often done as a screening test for auto-immune diseases like lupus.

A low titre of ANA can occur even in the normal population.

If the ANA is raised, you can see a rheumatologist for further work up. If you have any accompanying skin rash, you can consider seeing the dermatologist for further work up.
