Stomach discomfort after meal is a common complaint especially among people who consume larger portions of food in a relatively short time. Management for such discomfort may just be taking smaller portions each meal at a slower pace. At times, poor digestion due to upset intestinal rhythm, small bowel bacteria overgrowth or chronic constipation may also produce similar symptoms.

Do watch for "red flag" signs of pain happening mostly at night, black stools, weight loss or pain which radiates to the sides or the back. These signs and symptoms may indicate involvement of other organs such as the gallbladder or the pancreas.

If your symptoms persist despite ensuring regular small meals and after relieving any constipation, you should consult with your doctor to see if he or she can help to prescribe some medicine to relief the discomfort. Some people may need further investigations including scans eventually.
