How long does an abscess take to heal after drainage? (photo)
Thank you for the question and the photo. May I ask, how did the abscess come on? When treated, did they take any swabs or treat with anti-biotic? If you have concerns about healing then it’s certainly worth speaking to your medical/surgical team as Dr Paul has suggested. Equally, if pain is an issue, Dr Sean’s suggestion of Dermatix would be worth a try. In terms of exercise, my suggestion would be to start with non-impact/non weight-bearing exercise, such as cycling. Swimming might not be a good idea with a healing wound.
What is visual acuity recovery like after ReLEx® SMILE®?
Under normal circumstances, visual recovery for ReLEx® SMILE® is usually quite quick in the initial period. Patients usually can recover about 75% of their vision the very next day. The remaining 25%, which includes other aspects (such as contrast and haloes), will gradually recover in the following days and weeks. We usually advise patients to be diligent with the prescribed eyedrops as they also help with the recovery and stabilisation of vision after the surgery. It would be worthwhile to check in with your friend in a few weeks.
What are common causes of blurry vision 1 month after ReLEx SMILE surgery?
There are a number of potential causes of blurry vision after SMILE, or indeed after any other eye surgery including LASIK, PRK, cataract surgery and so on. Factors that need to be considered include the characteristics of the blurring, such as whether it fluctuates or is constant, whether the blurring is worse for a particular distance, whether it is worse under certain lighting conditions, whether it is getting better over time, and whether there are any measures that help to reduce the blurring eg eyedrops.
How can I get rid of smile lines that only occured after teeth extraction for braces?
Hi,Smile lines are also known as dynamic wrinkles that are caused by the over-activity of the muscles of facial expressions. I am not sure if the tooth extraction played a significant factor in worsening your smile lines. Depending on the location of smile lines and the underlying facial muscles that cause it, Botox may help to reduce its appearance. A full assessment by your preferred aesthetic doctor will be the first step to take to determine if Botox will help. Creams and laser treatments are unlikely to help in this instance. Hope this helps!
Why do black spaces at the gums appear during braces treatment, and what can be done to treat it and maintain healthy gums?
Black spaces that appear at the gums during braces treatment are termed black triangles. It appears black as you can see the darkness of the mouth behind the teeth through these gaps. It occurs as a consequence of straightening the previously crooked teeth. When teeth are crooked, they often overlap each other. With braces treatment, the crowding is resolved and the teeth no longer overlap. However the gums, unfortunately, do not grow with the teeth into a new position hence it is the lack of gum coverage in between the teeth that results in the black spaces.
