Getting A Knee Replacement In Singapore – A Patient's Journey

youtube video preview

Meet Mdm Pan Mei Yun, a Singaporean lady who's suffered from knee pain for more than a decade.

10 years ago, she often experienced numbness and pain in both her hands and legs. After a thorough medical examination, she was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis.

At times, the pain was so crippling that she found it difficult to go about with her daily tasks. She could hardly walk to the toilet, let alone shower while standing. She had to be seated on a chair when she took her bath.

Mdm Pan shares her story with DxD in this exclusive feature.

Meet The Patient is a new DxD series that shares heart-warming patient journeys and stories. If you have a patient story that you’d like to share, give our editorial team a shout: jeeyan@dxd.com.sg

Your Knee Pain Might Be More Serious Than You Think! This Orthopaedic Surgeon Tells You What To Look Out For

Nearly half of elderly Singaporeans suffer from knee pain, and 23.7% of Singaporean adults between the age of 18 and 50 are reported to be suffering from arthritis or chronic joint problems.

People often dismiss knee pain as nothing serious because it's just so common. However, it's important to realise that if your knee hurts, it's actually sending help signals to you. Don't ignore it for too long, as it might develop into something dangerous!

Dr Henry Chan, an experienced orthopaedic surgeon, hosted a DoctorxDentist Session where he gave advice on how you can get rid of knee pain

Here's what you need to know.

Will Running Hurt Your Knees? (Hint: It Won't)

Will Running Hurt Your Knees? (Hint: It Won't)

Time and time again, whether you are a seasoned marathoner or the neophyte jogger, you've probably heard this: Running too much will hurt your knees.

As a physiotherapist who runs frequently, I'd be a millionaire if I was given a quarter everytime I was asked, "Physio, will running damage my knees?" or being told, "You're a physio, you should know that running will damage your knees!"
