About Dr Alvona Loh
Dr Alvona Loh is a junior doctor at the Institute of Mental Health who offers care for detox and recovery of patients with addiction problems as well as general psychiatry treatment. Prior to this, she has worked in various departments including Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Orthopaedic Surgery and Internal Medicine.
As part of Singapore's efforts to counter the COVID-19 pandemic, she was assigned to a polyclinic from the middle of April 2020 onwards to provide primary healthcare services.
Besides her clinical work, she has a keen interest in academic research related to psychiatry. Under the supervision of her mentors, who are psychiatrists at National University Hospital (NUH) and Institute of Mental Health (IMH), she has published a paper on depression and anxiety among caregivers of stroke patients.
