About Dr Jaclyn Toh

Special Interests

Dr Toh is a certified Invisalign provider, and has a special interest in combining restorative cosmetic dentistry with orthodontics.

She also practices interceptive orthodontics for children. Early identification and treatment prevents severe skeletal or dental problems from becoming permanent, and needing surgery to correct in adulthood.

Training

  • Qualified with honours from the prestigious Dublin Dental School and Hospital of Trinity College Dublin, Ireland.
  • Member of the Singapore Dental Association, the College of General Dental Practitioners Singapore and the Aesthetic Dentistry Society of Singapore.

About Dr Toh

Dr Toh brings an eye for detail and a gentle touch to her work. She persuades her patients to take responsibility for their oral health and aids them to customise beneficial lifestyle choices and habits. She is passionate about bringing the best of the latest research into clinical practice through continuing clinical education.

Dr Toh advocates minimally-invasive and biomimetic dentistry following the Style Italiano philosophy, based on her experiences as a clinician and also as a patient.

She is passionate about endodontics (treatment of the root canals and pulpal disease) as a pivotal part of her general practice of maintaining natural teeth where possible.

During her free time, Dr Toh enjoys an active lifestyle as she regularly attends early morning gym sessions and regular ballet classes.

Invisalign was recommended to me by Dr Toh because of a severe open bite. My treatment took less than a year. Dr Toh was very good at explaining the entire process and would always answer in great detail any question however silly. I experienced very minimum discomfort and I enjoyed the fact that ...

I had a great experience with Dr Jaclyn when i had my filling done by her recently. Unbeknownst to me, I had a decay on my front tooth that was clearly visible in the X-rays that she took for me. She then told me that i needed to have a filling done and the reasons for it, which i r...

This Singaporean Dentist Shares Her Best Tips On How To Get Rid Of Stubborn Bad Breath!

At some point in time, most of us have had breath. Usually, this situation can be easily rectified with a simple swish of mouthwash or by brushing and flossing.

However, for some people, the awful smell persists for weeks, if not months!

Stubborn bad breath can make you feel awkward in social situations, cause emotional distress, and lower your self-esteem. It can be embarrassing and tough on those around you.

A 26-year-old female DxD reader wrote in to share her story. She revealed that she has been having bad breathe since she was 9. Despite implementing an extensive dental hygiene routine involving flossing and tongue scraping, she feels that the scent has only gotten worse.

Dr Jaclyn Toh, an experienced dentist, responded to the distressed reader with an in-depth answer. Here's what she had to share.

Mouthwash Might Be Bad For You! This Singaporean Dentist Reveals Why

We've all seen the compelling commercials – with a vigorous swish of mouthwash, your entire mouth-cleaning routine is completed. Whiter teeth, healthier gums, and no trace of bad breath.

However, that's far from the truth. In fact, over-reliance on mouthwash is one of the biggest mistakes people make when it comes to oral hygiene.

So, is mouthwash absolutely essential for dental health? Dr Jaclyn Toh, an experienced dentist gives you the low down. Here’s what she had to share.

There are many types of dental X-rays with different indications. Some are taken to check for buried teeth or to survey the jawbone (an orthopantomogram or OPG). Other X-rays (bitewings) are used to check for cavities hidden in between the teeth and to check how much bone is r...

NO treatment is necessary for a true confirmed diagnosis of Epstein pearls/gingival cysts . These are harmless overgrowths of the cells that are involved in tooth formation. These usually disappear without any treatment within 6 months. Your baby should be assessed to see if ...

The most common cause for misaligned teeth in the finishing stages of braces is due to bracket/tube position . In this case, there are 2 ways to address this minor issue: 1) Reposition the molar tubes ^ Poorly positioned tubes causing the first molars to rotate. Re...

Your upper front teeth appear to be straight but the edges are not even. This may give rise to the perception that the teeth are not straight EVEN if the root axes (how the roots appear on xray, and correctly placed braces will tend to make the roots of your teeth parallel) have been properly alig...

The 2nd picture of your braces is not as clear as your pre-treatment photo so I will have to make some assumptions. In your pre-treatment photo, it appears there is some minor crowding of the upper teeth. Your lower teeth are not visible. The lower (front) teeth may have started to protrude and c...

Invisalign or braces can definitely realign your teeth to fix the crowding in your upper and lower jaws. As for your bite, I suspect the photos have you posturing out of your natural bite pattern (note the gaps between your upper and lower back teeth) so it is impossible to see what kind of bite ...
