Obstetrics & Gynaecology
Dr Tony Tan is a Consultant in Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at his own clinic named Tony Tan Women and Fetal Clinic at Mount Alvernia. Concurrently, he is also the Medical Director, Alvernia Obstetric Screening Centre. Prior to this, Dr Tan was the Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist and Clinical Director, Maternal Fetal Medicine, Raffles Hospital. He was also a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist in the department of Department of Maternal Fetal Medicine, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
Dr Tan graduated from National University in Singapore with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery, and went on to obtain his specialist qualifications in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. He was further trained in fetal medicine including twin pregnancies at Queen Charlotte's Hospital, London.
Dr Tan specialises in managing high-risk pregnancies, such as twin (both monochorionic and dichorionic) pregnancies, miscarriages, screening and diagnosis of fetal abnormalities, prevention and management of preterm labour, management of pre-eclampsia and intrauterine growth restriction and strategies to prevent stillbirth.
Dr Tan is a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in UK and Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and member of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Dr Tan is also a member of the SingHealth Centralised Institutional Review Board which is the central ethics review board to protect the rights and welfare of human subjects involved in biomedical and behavioural research activities being conducted under the SingHealth institution.
