I just want to be prepared...

Having a flat chest is often a huge source of insecurity for many women. Yuna is a one lady who struggled with it.

To make up for her “empty” chest area, she tried all sorts of breast enhancing methods that claim to be able to increase cup sizes. From creams to injesting breast enlarging cookies, papaya milk etc, but to no avail.

10 years later, she finally decided to get an actual boob job. She recently hosted an AMA on Human to explain her experience undergoing a breast augmentation procedure, and how it changed her life.

The human.com.sgmunity had plenty of questions for her (including some personal ones which she has kindly answered).

Self-love is overrated

These days, people are always preaching about self-love. In a perfect world, we should understand ourselves, accept our flaws, and be comfortable in our skin.

Alas, reality is cruel! Yuna shared that she hated what she saw in the mirror everyday. Her flat chest bothered her a lot and eventually, it ate her up from the inside. That was when she knew that she had to do something to fix this.

She shared that the boob job gave her a new lease of life. With this new found confidence, she shrugs naysayers off easily, as compared to her pre-op personality.

It was the best decision she's made for herself.

Get ready to be judged

Judge

Truth to be told, there’s still a huge stigma around breast augmentation these days. If you’re thinking of improving your bust size, find someone who can relate to your woes.

A lot people might dimiss your decision as unnecessary or vain! But Yuna made an important point that these people don’t live in your body day in and day out!

You have to figure out what it is that you want, and make the best decision for yourself.

The right doctor will give you the courage to do it

Yuna has always toyed with the idea of getting a boob job, but it took her 10 years to finally do it. Reason being, she never found the right doctor.

She believes that finding a right surgeon is critical. A great surgeon will give you the confidence that the procedure will be a success, and complication-free.

So how do you find a good surgeon? Yuna suggests looking and researching into the surgeon’s background. From her experience, a confident surgeon will give you very objective recommendations.

Here's the caveat, they definitely don’t come cheap. For starters, you can go for a consultation and take notes of your interection with your operating surgeon.

Yuna stressed that you should never skimp on the fees! If your surgery goes sideways, no amount of money can make up for the regret.

Stripping in front of a doctor, weird or not?

Yuna relates to this concern, but she says that she felt zero awkwardness! Her advice is to think of it as a medical procedure. Remember that you are going there to get an operation to look and feel better.

"Will my man love it?"

puzzle pieces showing heart shape

Yuna had a couple of boyfriends, and they all had simliar reactions to her desire of getting a boob job. She revealed that they discouraged her because of the high cost and risks.

However, she went ahead and did it because she knew that a boob job was what she truly wanted. To her surprise, the boyfriends that discouraged her turned out to be even more excited than her about her new boobs!

Better in bed?

Yuna revealed that it has definitely enhanced her personal bedroom experience. It's largely due to the fact that she feels more confident and sexy in kinky lingerie. When you are happy, your partner is most likely to be happy too.

However, Yuna points out that a good relationship does not come in tandem with big boobs!

Nasty side effects

Woman thinking

Side-effects are a huge deterrent for many women. It’s one of the reasons why women fear breast enhancement. More often than not, these side effects are blown out of proportion, or are simply myths.

  • Myth 1: It will affect your ability to breast-feed

Truth: There’s no implication for breast-feeding if your surgeon does it well.

  • Myth 2: It will feel unnatural

Truth: If done correctly, you shouldn’t even feel like there’s an implant there. There should no issues when you're running or jogging either.

  • Myth 3: You’ll get a noticeable scar

Truth: The scar you get measures around 2cm and it fades away well, so it isn’t even noticeable when you wear a bikini!

Rapid recovery

Most people think of breast enhancement as a major surgery, but in reality, it’s really just a day surgery. You’ll be in and out in a jiffy!

It takes about 4 days before you can return back to work, and most likely 1 month for complete recovery.

When should you do it?

Woman thinking

When asked whether she regrets waiting 10 years before she finally decided to go for surgery, Yuna replied with a resounding no.

She believes firmly that women should only do the surgery when:

  • They feel that their bodies are ready for it
  • They are confident about the doctor handling their case

There is no need to rush into it!

The million dollar question: How much does it cost?

Most aesthetic procedures don’t come cheap, neither does breast augmentation.

The total cost for Yuna came up to more than $13,000. There are cheaper alternatives, but Yuna doesn’t recommend taking the cheap way out when it comes to your health and well-being.
