Normally before performing MRI scans, the radiology department will ask about recent operations and the possibility of metal work. In general, if metal has been in the body for a while and is in a deep tissue structure, such as the knee, it should not cause too much bother.
That said, in a situation such as yours, it might be worth consulting your dental/maxfax surgeon before undergoing the scan, in case they have concerns.

No as all modern day implants are titanium and no longer contain iron which is affected by MRI magnetic field. However doctors are still cautious for implants less than one year in vital organs brain and heart.
Sorry to hear about your unlucky situation with the army. Anterior ankle impingement is due to inflammation and scar tissue forming in the front part of your ankle joint, limiting range of motion and causing pain, just as you’ve described. It’s attributed to repeated strain of the front portion of your ankle joint. It sounds like your doctor has taken the right steps with an MRI given the length of pain – it’s good news that there’re no bony spurs or visible deformities.
Back pain can be due to many different problems including nerve irritation from disc bulges, facet joint irritation, muscle or ligament issues or degenerative changes. If your symptoms keep coming back, then its certainly useful to look into why it is happening. Strengthening your back is definitely an important option and focussed treatments with a physiotherapist can help. However, if symptoms continue, then seeing a Sports/MSK physician is certainly sensible - they can assess you, organise investigations and in some cases give you focussed treatments to help your symptoms.
