Thank you for your question!
Blepharoptosis or ptosis for short is a medical condition where there is dropping of the upper eyelid. The resulting symptoms are visual field obstruction, lid asymmetry, lid heaviness, frontal/temporal headaches, forehead lines and so on.
To answer your question on whether it is insurance claimable:
- it would depend on the severity of the ptosis. Mild ptosis is generally not claimable, with it needing to be moderate or severe before it is.
- Another would be the underlying cause - your insurance policy may have exclusion criteria, such as for congenital conditions, and this would preclude a claim for surgical correction for congenital causes of ptosis.
- Last, many of my patients confuse insurance claims and Medisave claims. These are 2 separate claims from different organisations and my staff would be best positioned to advise on this.
Thank you!
