Hi, leukemias are blood-related cancers that affect white blood cell and red blood cell production.
There are a few different types of leukemias. The symptoms vary according to the type of leukemia you have.
What generally happens is that because there are less white blood cells, your body becomes weaker at fighting infection.
Lesser red blood cells means that your body is worse at transporting oxygen, which causes you to feel tired.
The most common symptoms in leukemia are:
- Fatigue
- Fever
- Night sweats
- Frequent infections
- Enlarged lymph nodes
- Night sweats
- Bruising
- Unintentional weight loss
Do note that most of these symptoms can be very subtle, and you may not notice them. They can also be due to a wide range of causes.
One of the signs of leukemia can indeed be a skin "rash" that appears as tiny red spots, called petechiae. Rather than being a rash however, it is due to tiny broken blood vessels under the skin.
Of course, the best way to get this checked up to see your friendly neighbourhood GP.
