What could be the cause for tiny raised bumps on my cheek? (photo)

Doctor's Answers 2

Thank you for your question. I agree with Dr Ho, the raised spots appears to look like milia. Milia are completely harmless, and in some cases they will eventually clear by themselves.

Treatment:

1. Observe and wait - It may clear on its own

2. Topical tretinoin (Vitamin A) - the least invasive treatment, but variable efficacy

3. Incision (cut) and manual expression

4. Laser - Carbon Dioxide Laser/Erbium:YAG Laser

5. Chemical peel and dermabrasion - efficacy debatable

Hope this helps and all the best!

Best Wishes,

Vincent

These are milia seeds. Your pores have been blocked up by dead skin cells.

The 2 main modes of removal are:

1) Electrocautery

2) Laser removal

Rachel

How can I get rid of clogged pores and milia seeds?

Our face is constantly exposed to dirt, bacteria, skin care or cosmetic products. If you don’t clean your face thoroughly, it’s easy for pores to get clogged. The best way to prevent clogged pores is to follow a good daily skin care regimen and exfoliate your skin regularly to remove dead skin cells and excessive sebum.

Recommendation of doctor in NSC for treatment of folliculitis?

Folliculitis is a relatively straightforward condition to treat and get rid of – any dermatologist will be able to help you. There are, however, some other conditions that look similar. A dermatologist will be able to help you to diagnose and distinguish between possible causes.
