Firstly, you have to be comfortable with the doctor. You should communicate your issues in a way that the doctor understands. Apart from that, the doctor should be able to understand your needs as a patient and should be able to recommend treatment that helps to tackle your concerns. Of course, it has to also be within the patient's budget as well as their total experience. The protocol is that it has to be comfortable for the patient to go through. I think that it is very important. Secondly, the quality of the machine used matters. There are many versions of the same machine available.
Hi, A keloid scar, short or long, cannot be totally removed. It can only be improved upon. If multiple steroid injections "did not work", other options to consider may include: Increasing the potency of the injected steroids i. e. use a higher concentration. While more effective, potential side-effects such as skin atrophy, telangiectasias, discoloration may be more frequent and severe. Use a combination of steroid mixed with 5-Fluorouracil. 5-Fluorouracil is an anti-cancer drug. This combination is reported to be more effective than steroid alone. Add laser to augment improvement.
