Can dentists remove plaque and food between my teeth if I am wearing braces?
I've been wearing braces for 3 years. Can dentists check for and remove plaque and food between my teeth if I am wearing braces? My dentist does not seem to check and clean between my teeth before tightening my braces.
It is possible for your dentist to remove your orthodontic wires before a scale and polish.
In this way, the plaque and food in between your teeth can be cleaned.
After the cleaning, the wires can be replaced.
When wearing the braces, it is pretty difficult to clean up especially in between teeth with plaques and tartar. That why dentist recommend the cleaning every 6 months during braces treatment.
But we can do cleaning with/ without taking out the wires in between teeth but better to clean up after taking out wire temporary and back to braces after cleaning.
Please be advised to get the cleaning regularly during braces treatments otherwise there will be food trapping causing gum infections like gingivitis with bleeding and bad breath.
Thanks so much
