How can I address persistent acne and prevent it from reoccurring?

Doctor's Answers 1

Hi,

For persistent acne, you should see your doctor to evaluate for an underlying cause such as hormonal imbalance and to assess for any controllable risk factors such as diet, stress, comedogenic skincare products.

Thereafter, appropriate treatment can be offered based on your age, gender, response to previous treatments, suitability and cost considerations.

If assessed to be appropriate and suitable for treatment, a full course of oral isotretinoin often gives excellent acne control and long term benefits to patients.

Hope this helps!

Can chest acne be permanently fixed, and what are recommended treatments?

Chest acne is treated in a similar manner as facial acne and the treatment options have be quite comprehensively discussed elsewhere in this forum which you can refer to. They include topicals, oral antibiotics and oral isotretinoin. The main difference is that chest acne tends to respond more slowly than facial acne and may be more prone to cause thickened scar (acne keloids). Also acne mimics such as Malassezia folliculitis need to be excluded.

How permanent are the results of Rejuran Healer on acne scars?

Hi, There are much more effective and proven treatments for acne scars such as subcision, fractional lasers and micro-needling that you should consider first. Rejuran Healer may be the current craze for anti-ageing treatment but it is more targeted at maintaining skin health by stimulating natural collagen synthesis in the upper dermis.
