What are the costs of treatment for getting rid of chicken pox scars?

Doctor's Answers 1

Depressed chicken pox scars are due to the defect in collagen during the healing process and the formation of scar bands tethering the scar resulting in more obvious scar defect.

Treatment options available:

1) Scar subcision together with Rejuran S. Subcision releases and frees the scar bands from tethering the skin and allows the scar to lift partially.

The further injection of Rejuran S into the scar area while performing subcision allows the the scar area to heal and lift more effectively as collagen formation occurs in the treated area.

Rejuran S is a Korean Acne Scar booster which is Korean-FDA approved, Europe CE-approved and also Singapore HSA-approved. It is Korean technology targeting treatment of depressed acne scars. It contains high concentration of salmon Polynucleotide, DNA extracts in a viscous and dense consistency.

This gel-like consistency allows immediate filling and lifting of depressed scars; while the rich concentrate of Polynucleotide, DNA and RNA stimulates and accelerates collagen regeneration and remodelling in the scar areas through activation of the fibroblast and collagen cells. This achieves sustained lifting of the scars and long-term improvement in the appearance of the scars.

Depending on the depth and location of the scar, two or more treatments may be required. Treatment starts from $550 per treatment session.

2) Subcision together with a cross-linked hyaluronic acid filler. Subcision and injection of a filler is able to lift the depressed area instantly. However, as hyaluronic acid fillers are resorbed by the body with time, the scar area will sink again after 6-9 months and you will need to repeat the procedure. Treatment starts from $800 per treatment.

Is subcision or excision more effective for chicken pox scars? (photo)

The choice of scar revision technique depends on a few things, uncluding: 1. The type of scar 2. The location of the scar You appear to have an atrophic box-like scar just above the brow. Excision of scars can be done with good reduction of scar appearances, but I would, in this case, recommend a trial of subscisions combined with (careful) filler placement and laser resurfacing. I suggest the above for a few reasons: 1. The scar, when excised, will need to be sutured back for primary healing.

What is the best treatment for a pitted chicken pox scar on the tip of my nose between subcision, fillers and CO2 lasers? (photo)

Hi,Atrophic scars on the tip of the nose (from acne or chicken pox) is most challenging to treat due to the median location and convex surface of the nose which exacerbates the cosmetic appearance of the scar. The highly sebaceous nature of the nose makes filler and subcision non-ideal. In my opinion, Fractional CO2 laser therefore offers the best benefit:risk ratio of the 3 treatment modalities. Hope this helps!
