Most PIH, especially on the face, tends to reduce spontaneously over time if the inflammation is treated effectively. The control of the causative and continuing skin inflammation is the most important factor to manage.
Treatment effectiveness of the PIH per se is at best modest. Treatment modalities include sun protection, lightening creams, exfoliation strategies and pigment laser treatment.
Combination of the above treatment modalities arguably gives the best results albeit at higher costs and requires the experience of the doctor to combine treatments safely and effectively.
Overall, depending on what combination is finally chosen, costs may vary from tens of dollars to several thousands.
A proper assessment by your preferred aesthetic doctor and an open discussion as to which therapies may be best suited for you based on the nature and site of your PIH, skin sensitivity type, tolerance to various procedures and cost considerations.
Hope this helps!
