After cataract surgery, how should I address dry eyes?

Doctor's Answer

Dry eyes are managed in a very similar way before or after cataract surgery.

In the first instance, take regular breaks from prolonged reading or near work, and adjust the air conditioner to a warmer setting with low fan speed.

In addition, using artificial tears regularly is very helpful. If cataract surgery was recent, it would be good to use preservative-free types like Refresh Plus or Tears Natural Free.

Punctal plugs (inserted by an eye doctor) can also be considered in more severe cases where artificial tears are required for relief very frequently.
