Clots during your menstrual period suggest that your menstrual flow is heavy, which allows for blood to pool in the uterus and form clots.
These clots are then expelled, usually with the help of uterine contractions, and are commonly associated with menstrual cramps.
For most ladies, clots have been a part of their menses since their teenage years; for these ladies there is usually nothing to be worried about.
However if your menses is normally clot-free, but you have started experiencing clots in the last few months, then this is a symptom to be investigated further.
These clots may be due to a plethora of reasons, some of which may include fibroids, polyps, endometriosis or hormonal imbalances.
If you have been trying to conceive for the last 6 to 12 months without success, then it would be wise to see a gynaecologist to have this issue looked into.
