Re-mineralisation will only be advisable if there is no significant loss of tooth structure. If the enamel is already damaged or thinned, then a procedure that can restore the tooth to its original state and protect the remaining tooth would be of greater benefit to the patient.
The simplest and cheapest way would be to bond composite fillings to the tooth surface. The main advantages are that there is less shaving of the tooth and costs lesser. However, the composites are much more difficult to maintain and do not last as long.
Veneers are the best option for teeth where only the front surface of the teeth are affected. These will allow a more aesthetic solution that has a much longer lifespan and is more user-friendly.
The last option is to crown the tooth. This may be the best solution for severely damaged teeth. However, they require much more trimming of the teeth. The result is stronger but more difficult to clean.
