Can I still get dental implants if I am on bisphosphonate therapy?

Doctor's Answer

Bisphosphonate therapy is used for patients who have osteoporosis. We try not to do it because there is a risk of getting a condition called osteonecrosis. But you can discuss it with your dentist.

Because when you’re on bisphosphonate therapy, it depends on how serious your osteoporosis is, how long you’ve been on bisphosphonates, what kind of bisphosphonates you’re taking.

Implants can be done, but there is a risk and it all depends on the individual patient so you need to discuss that with your dentist.
