Only laser therapies causing injury to the uppermost layer of the skin such as fractional CO2 laser are most commonly associated with acne flares during skin recovery.
This is due to the re-epithelisation process following lasering stimulates inflammation around the oil glands and results in acne breakouts.
On the other hand, the other common cosmetic lasers such as the pigment laser and pico-lasers generally do not cause acne flares.
